Freeze Panes in Microsoft Excel

In this article, we will learn from where we can insert Freeze panes and what is the use of it in Microsoft Excel?

Freeze panes: – We use this option to freeze a portion of sheet to keep it visible while you scroll through the rest of the sheet. This is useful to checking out data in other parts of your worksheet without losing your headers or labels.

Shortcut key of Freeze panes: – Alt+W,F,F

We can freeze the data from row and column.

Freeze Top Row:-

 

To freeze panes in Excel, follow below given steps:-

  • Go to View tab in the ribbon.
  • Click on Freeze Panes in the group of window, and a dropdown list will appear.
  • Click on Freeze Top Row.

  • Scroll down to the rest of the worksheet.
  • Excel will automatically add the horizontally line to indicate that the top row is Frozen.
  • When you will scroll the data, the first row will be visible.

To unfreeze the panes, follow the below given steps:-

  • Go to View tab in the ribbon.
  • Click on Freeze Panes in the group of window, and a dropdown list will appear.
  • Click on Unfreeze panes

To freeze panes, follow below given steps:-

  • Select the range where you want to put the Freeze panes.
  • Go to View tab in the ribbon.
  • Click on Freeze Panes in the group of window, and a dropdown list will appear.
  • Click on freeze panes.

  • Result all rows above row 7 are frozen.

Note: To keep columns visible while scrolling to the right of the worksheet, select a column and click Freeze panes.

  • Select the column C and go to View Tab.
  • Click on Unfreeze panes, then click on Freeze panes.
