Sort in Ascending and Descending order

In Microsoft Excel,we can sort the data by using the AutoFilter sort’s data according to specific sort order rules.

We can sort the number data as per ascending order and descending order. And sort the text according to alphabets A to Z and Z to A. Also, we can sort by font color and cell color in Microsoft Excel.

This option is available in the Data Tab under the Sort & Filter group.

Or we can use the short keys Ctrl+Shift+L

Let’s take an example to understand how we can sort the data in Ascending or Descending order while using Auto Filter.

We have data in range A1:B14 in whichcolumn A contains Agent’s name and column B contains Revenue ($).

To sort the data in Ascending order, follow below given steps:-

  • Select the First cell from data.
  • Press the key Ctrl+Shift+L on your keyboard.

  • Click on the filter to Revenue ($).
  • To sort the data in ascending order, in the top of the filter, sort the data Smallest to Largest.

  • Data will get sorted in ascending order.

To sort the data in Ascending order, follow below given steps:-

  • Select the First cell from data.
  • Press the key Ctrl+Shift+L on your keyboard.

  • Click on the filter to Revenue ($).
  • To sort the data in descending order, in the top of the filter, sort the data largest to Smallest.

  • Data will get sorted in descending order.

This is the way we can sort the data in ascending or descending order while using the Auto Filter in Microsoft Excel.
