To sort by Custom Lists: Step 1: Remove duplicate from records
1. Copy the range containing records (column C in the screenshot) and paste it to a new column (column H in the screenshot below).
2. Select a cell in column H, and select Data -> Remove Duplicates (in Data Tools Group) -> and click OK.
3. In the Advanced Filter dialog box, select Copy to another location.

Step 2: Storing a Custom List
1. Select the unique records list (cells H2:H9 in the screenshot).
2. Select File -> Excel Options -> Personalize -> Edit Custom
Lists button.
3. Click Import, and then click OK.

Step 3: Sorting by a Custom List
1. Select a cell in the column containing the List.
2. Select Data -> Sort (in Sort & Filter Group).
3. From Order select Custom List.
4. Select the List and click OK.
