» Range Name Syntax in Excel 2007

Name syntax rules:

Name string always begins with a text character, not a number.

Name string consists of adjacent characters; two words can be joined with an underscore (_), for example, to apply the Name Excel Book, type Excel_Book.

You cannot use a cell reference as Name, for example, A1 or IS2002, as these are already cell references.
