Mr Excel on Excel Exceeds My Wildest Expectations!!!

This is the most unbelievable software book I've ever read! I started highlighting helpful ideas, but almost immediately gave up that effort because I'd have to highlight every line! No matter what your level of Excel expertise, this book will boggle your mind. I have a library full of Excel books, but NEVER have I seen even a fraction of these tips and tricks. How Bill and Joseph discovered these shortcuts, I'll never know. But thank goodness they had the foresight and generosity to share them with the rest of us!!!

This is a MUST READ BOOK.

I've read many software manuals, and found MrExcel on Excel one of the easiest to understand books out there on ANY of the Office applications. There are so few books that cover the beginner and intermediate levels of software. You're stuck with training manuals or Microsoft books, neither of which tell you how to do things the way they're really done in the the real world. Training manuals and Microsoft books don't tell you the idiosyncracies of the software, how to get around them; and they don't tell you the best feature to use for a given situation. This book does! Kudos to Bill Jelen and Joseph Rubin for making Excel so easy to understand!

Although many other authors and publishers claim that there isn't another Excel book like their's, in this case it is true. The book reads the way a true Help manual should, quick and to the point.

There are so many tips and tricks listed in this book that every chapter can teach even the oldest of dogs new tricks. There is a nice blend of tips that speed up spreadsheet navigation, auditing and use with easy to follow examples that introduce some of the most useful features of Excel. If you have ever cringed whilst watched people using Excel inefficiently, just wait until you've mastered some of the techniques explained in this book.

The book has examples using VBA but the intent of the book is not to teach VBA extensively. In keeping with the theme of the book, most of the VBA examples that are included are useful and can be directly imported into you workbooks without modification. i.e. useful real-world examples.

"Mr. Excel on Excel" is purely and simply a very well-written reference manual for those of us that need the answers quickly.

This book is absolutley jam-packed with useful tips and tricks. You will easily recoup your outlay on the book in the time savings that you will make in your first few Excel sessions after reading it.

I've used Excel for many years and used to think that I knew pretty much all that I needed to know. I was wrong! There are so many time-saving tips in here that you will find yourself referring to it time and again - keep it near your computer.

And its not just about working faster, its about working smarter too. We've all been in this situation I suspect - you reach a certain point in your spreadsheet design and sit there thinking 'There must be a way to do this!'. Well there probably is and its probably in this book. Typical examples include, adding a watermark to your spreadsheets, moving a minus sign from the right of a figure to the left, using the a Euro symbol.

Bluntly, if you use Excel you NEED this book.

Given how many Excel books there are out there, it can't be easy to write a good one that fills a genuine gap in the market. Nevertheless, Jelen & Rubin have managed to do just that. Aimed primarily at the intermediate user, "MrExcel on Excel" is packed full of tips that will get you using Excel much more effectively.

The book will not teach you everything there is to know about Excel; nor will it show you how, with some fancy API programming, you can make Excel do the washing-up and walk the dog. What it will do is show you techniques and tricks that will speed up tasks you already think you know how to do, and introduce you to a few that will show you how to do things you thought couldn't be done.

If you've already used Excel and want to use it better, then buy this book - in time saved alone it should pay for itself in under a month.
